The New Year’s Eve concert, featuring several of my orchestrations, was watched live by nearly a million viewers
Classical Trancelations is an ongoing project begun by Petri “Lowland” Alanko to bring new life to classic trance tracks by reimagining them for orchestra. For New Year’s Eve this year, Finland's state broadcaster Yle decided to feature fourteen of these tracks as part of their televised New Year’s Eve celebrations, performed by the Helsinki Philharmonic and conducted by Eero Lehtimäki.
I was asked to orchestrate three of these tracks by lead arranger Pessi Levanto, including this cover of Bomfunk MC’s "Freestyler" performed by rapper Jesse Markin (described by Tuonela Magazine as "the easy highlight of the show").
The personal highlight for me, though, was getting to rework David Guetta and Sia's modern classic "Titanium", which was beautifully sung by platinum-selling singer-songwriter Nelli Matula.
